divisions evolved to handle fabrication, electrical and civil engineering
works, offering a more complete service. Continued expansion within the water sector
created an opportunity for the provision of innovative solutions within the
landfill sector including containment and leachate collection. In
1993 the emergence of increasing environmental legislation saw the Civil
Engineering Division becoming formally recognised as a dedicated sub-contractor
within the environmental sector. Initially
working extensively within the landfill sector and later expanding into the
provision of environmental protection measures relating to the redevelopment
of contaminated land. Core
skills that have sustained the development of SEL Environmental are the commitment
to incorporate innovative validated solutions and the aim to provide a ‘Total
Service’ package. These ideals have
created close relationships with many of the UK’s major contractors and consultants. Partnering
with academic institutions and specialist consultants has involved substantial
investment into the provision of pioneering technologies within the water
and environmental sectors. Current
projects include research into the field of sustainable urban drainage and
stormwater source control utilising the company’s in-house research and development
facilities with the goal of providing optimum solutions in terms of performance,
