Continuous Barrier Cut-off / Vent Trench Installations |
|
|
SEL trench systems provide a genuine alternative to bentonite and slurry wall installations. SEL Environmental have extensive experience in the provision environmental protection measures. One particular area of expertise is in the provision of in-ground vertical barriers to prevent the subterranean migration of leachate and gases into surrounding uncontaminated areas.
SEL offer combined continuous geomembrane barrier and gas venting trenches. All trench installations are designed on a site specific basis subject to available site investigation information and gas monitoring data. Individual ground conditions are assessed and will determine the type of barrier to be used and the venting arrangement. Trench depths up to 8m below finished ground level can be achieved.

Unique System SEL have developed a unique trench drag box. What makes this drag box unique is it allows a continuous vertical geoemebrane barrier to be dispensed and installed to depths up to 8m. Selected as-dug material can be used for backfilling as the installation progresses. Re-cycling of the excavated material provides significant savings on disposal costs to licensed landfill and on imported granular material which would normally be used. The structural design of the box allows a multi-laminate barrier and venting module to be dispensed out of a continuous opening in the rear of the box. It also allows entry inside the drag box where joints in the geomembrane barrier can be welded together. This system has proven to be a very productive method of installing a continuous vertical membrane barrier, achieving high rates of production in excess of 40 ln.m per day..

Significant cost savings are possible through: 1. lower mobilisation and set-up costs 2. shorter installation programme 3. minimal interference with other site operations 4. reduction in the volume of excavated materials exported off-site to licensed landfill 5. selected as-dug material can be used for backfilling 6. reduction in the volumes of quarried materials. SEL are commited to developing innovative new techniques which ultimately will benefit the Client through savings in terms of cost and time. Whatever your requirements maybe, SEL are able to design, supply and install a system that will meet your site conditions and budget. |
