SEL have developed a bespoke drag box system which allows the installation of a continuous membrane barrier and corresponding protection layers.

Our drag box system can achieve installation depths up to 8m from ground level. The drag box will sit within a trench and rolls of membrane are lowered into the drag box. The rolls will sit upright with the lower end secured on a freely rotating bobbin to aid dispensing.

As excavation of the trench advances, the membrane spools off the roll through the rear of the drag box as it is pulled forward. In effect we have created a giant 'toilet roll' dispenser.

Specialist hot air membrane welding equipment is used to form a fully sealed joint where rolls of membrane end and start. This joint is usually appx every 100 linear metres.

SEL can also combine this barrier system with a passive venting system. This system uses geosynthetic void formers in lieu of granular venting media. Our venting system is far more efficient than gravel and is significantly less susceptible to blockage from siltation.
